I'm well into in the second trimester of my pregnancy and my sweet tooth is back with a vengeance! Instead ofstuffing my face with cookies and cakes, I have found healthier sweet options to satisfy my cravings. This Mexican Dark Hot Chocolate has been one of my favorite go-to sweets.
Make sure to read the ingredients of store bought hot chocolate or chocolate milk mixes. They can be full of processed sugars! Our mix is super easy and made with wholesome ingredients: almond milk (it's vegan and soy free), carob powder, naturally sweet maple syrup, and a hint of spices to jazz it up. :D
Mexican Dark Hot Chocolate
VEGAN, GLUTEN FREE, CORN FREE, SOY FREE
serves: 2 or 1 big mug

- 1.5 Cups Almond Milk
- 3 Tablespoons carob (or cacao) powder
- 3 Tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- pinch cayenne pepper
- pinch sea salt
- Whisk all ingredients together and warm over saucepan. Pour into mugs or espresso cups.
